Postcards from Siesta Key

Bring a Camera When Searching for Siesta Key Homes

Take a walk or ride along Beach Road and Midnight Pass for a tour of the tropical paradise, Siesta Key. Residents of Siesta Key enjoy walking, biking, beach activities, fishing, painting, and just relaxing. Snuffy Smith and I take our camera on all our walks and this Key provides ample opportunity for photo clicks. Postcard scenes of children playing on the beach, the Siesta Key drum circle on Sundays and dolphin dipping in the Gulf are typical sights for shutter bugs.

Snuffy isn't happy that doggies aren't allowed on the beach but there are plenty of sidewalks on the key for nice walks. Take your pooper scoop. And beware of crosswalks if you are driving. Let the residents and visitors cross or be prepared to pay the fine.

Customers often ask for additional pictures at a showing so my digital camera always accompanies me on showings too. Our customers often come from England, Canada or Italy and sometimes send photos home to spouses for review before writing a purchase contract. Sarasota MLS idx listings report almost 300 homes for sale on Siesta Key FL priced from the low millions to $17,500,000. Five hundred condos are for sale on Siesta Key currently and range from the high $100,000s to almost $3 million. Search Siesta Key homes.

Geaux Tigers - Congrats on National Championship

LSU Wins National Title in Season Like no Other

This past football season has been like none that I remember in 40 years of watching football. Greenville, MS is my home town and you are either an Ole Miss fan or a Mississippi State fan when it comes to rooting for college sport teams. In 1958, I remember sitting with Mary Ezell, mother of Billy Ezell (Captain Easy) LSU quarterback in the 1960s, in my driveway, listening to the Tigers beat Ole Miss on Halloween night. Billy Cannon pulled the Tigers out of a tight spot that night and that Paul Dietzell team went on to win the National Title. A year later I attended my first LSU game with my aunt and uncle as guests of our close friend Carl Maddox, former LSU Athletic Director. The University of Louisiana hooked me from the minute I stepped into Tiger Stadium.

Through the years I've stayed in touch with Mrs. Ezell touching base with her every LSU game night. In 2003, we cheered Nick Saban's team to a National Championship. This year was to be good too, but I would have been happy just beating Alabama and "everything after that would be gravy." Every weekend during this season was a nail-biting, down to the wire experience leading to a National tile. I'll be wearing my LSU rhinestone pin proudly in the next week. Way to geaux Tigers. I love gravy, by the way!

Siesta Key Home Receives Historic Honor

The Boden-Wilson House

Sarasota County's Historic Preservation Board reviewed several distinctive characteristics before approving a historic designation for a Siesta Key home. The Siesta Key homes sits among several homes on Sandy Hook which were designed by noted architects Ralph Twitchell, Mary Rockwell Hook and Edward "Tim" Seibert and others. The Boden-Wilson House was designed during the Sarasota School of Architecture's modern movement.

Homes listed in the Sarasota MLS designed during the period are rare and don't ususally sit on the market for long. To check out some of the current listings:
